Nvidia and Deutsche Telekom to Build $1.2 Billion AI Data Center in Munich
Nvidia Corp. and Deutsche Telekom AG are set to unveil plans for a €1 billion ($1.2 billion) AI-focused data center in Munich, marking a significant step toward Europe's ambition to reduce reliance on U.S. and Chinese tech dominance. The facility, though smaller than comparable American projects, signals Europe's commitment to building indigenous AI infrastructure.
SAP SE, Europe's largest software company, is expected to be among the first major customers. The announcement will feature Deutsche Telekom CEO Tim Höttges, Nvidia's Jensen Huang, SAP's Christian Klein, and German Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger next month in Berlin.
The move addresses growing concerns over Europe's lag in AI development, as U.S. giants like Microsoft and Alphabet invest hundreds of billions in data centers to power generative AI models. This project could catalyze further regional investments in computing capacity.
